Have you been putting off taking Professional Headshots?

You might have that favorite image from a family event or meetup with friends that inevitably becomes your profile image on social media and also for business. As an artist with a trained eye, I can’t help but notice sub-par profile images. Images that aren’t in focus or where family members are cropped out to zoom in on the face. Or candid images with distracting elements in the background. Even images with filters applied to enhance them but they might have the opposite effect. It might be easy to use what you might have on hand, but not a professional solution most of the time.

1. Today, at the click of a keyboard button, your name can be pulled up online through a Google, Linkedin or Facebook search. Your online presence is your digital identity. It is your calling card for your social media and/or business. As a business owner when I get a new lead, I often look up the potential client to verify their authenticity. If an employer views your profile, they are likely to do the same and make assumptions about you based on your image. What is the persona you want represented of yourself through your online presence?

2. There are many photographers out there. Hiring the right photographer is just as important for the success of your Headshots. When you make that commitment to get photographed, you are investing in yourself in being seen. You are sitting in front of the less and being captured without any background distractions by an artist that is good at her craft.

3. Don’t tell the cost alone dictate your choice of a Headshot Photographer. You want to hire a photographer that can capture you as a unique individual. There is technical expertise and chemistry with the photographer to capture you in the best light. Getting a professional headshot doesn’t mean it has to be boring.
