Mr. Daydream

It turned out to be a nice relaxing day for Rowan and me. We needed one of those! My Toyota Rav4 needed to get serviced for a recall under the Emissions Recall Program ssc601. With a few hours to kill, we hung out at in Alameda at the bookstore. Rowan loves the Mr. Men and the Little Ms. books and got to pick one book of his choice. And then Mr. Daydream emerged for some picture taking.

This was one of my first e-sessions… a nice change from chasing kids 🙂 This lovely couple, Kristan and Rhasaan are getting married in a few weeks. I had the opportunity to capture their love for each other at their special spot in Tilden Park where they are getting married. The lighting was a bit challenging but I think the photos turned out great! I also got to do some family pictures that included Kristan’s adorable little boy. He told me that he loved me- such a sweetie pie!

There are lives I can imagine without children but none of them have the same laughter & noise.

So true. I can’t imagine my life without my silly, wonderful little boy. He is so filled with joy and silly little things make him laugh. I meant to post this earlier and share my wonderful Mother’s day flower pot that my son made at his preschool. They also did an answer sheet with the teachers. One of the questions was My mom is smart! She even knows… how to take pictures of other kids. Ha! I hope some day he will enjoy taking pictures as well.

Hope you had a wonderful Mother’s day as well.

It has been a crazy, busy few weeks in trying to stay caught up. This month has been one of my busiest work months since I got started! This photo session was for a past client that bid on a mini-session that I donated to Vannoy Elementary School. I was so excited that she bid on the auction and won. Such a wonderful testament to my work!

Little A arrived at the session with his own stash of rocks, feather’s and sticks. And that’s what the whole session was about. Looking for more stuff. Such a fun way to spend an afternoon. Mom, her is a sneak peek…

is a short movie about consumption, sustainability and environmental issues. You can check it out here. There is a lot in there that you already know but seeing it in black and white was so profound for me. It’s funny how having kids makes you want to do even more to make the world a better place for them. I have been trying to clean up, recycle, and reuse even more so than I ever did before. In India, the whole concept of consignment store shopping or buying “used” goods didn’t exist when I grew up there. We mostly reused within the family and there were no online resources like Craigslist, Freecycle, etc to tap into. It did take me a while to get used to it but what can be better than reusing and recycling specially for a lot of the baby stuff that we barely get use out of?

One of my favorite reusable items are water bottles. Being a design buff, I am always looking for products that have a good blend of form and function. Even if they cost a little more, good quality can go a long way. Here are a couple of our favorites for kids and adults.

with the B family. A few more for your sneak peek.

Here is little M in his grandfather’s chair. I know it meant a lot to the family and M seemed to love hanging out in it. And there was no getting away from me 🙂

Coming up with a good title can be a bit of a challenge for a non-writer like me. So the title is partly based on the lively subject of the session and because it is one of my son’s favorite book Go, Dog. Go! How’s that for a reason? It is just such a wonderful, silly, and fast-paced book filled with the adventures of the blue, green, yellow, red dogs of all shapes and sizes. Kinda like my adventure with this adorable, good natured little guy.

Change. It can all happen so quickly! When the B family booked their session about a month back, 10 month old little M was content to sit in one spot and watch the world around him. You know, the wonderful age where they aren’t running away from you. But was I in for a surprise! There was a brand new crawler ready to take on the world. And there was no stopping him….

pssst….check out that full head of hair!

After a fair amount of chasing I decided to resort to a bit of trickery. I found his cute little chair and it was the perfect way to keep him seated for a few minutes while I got some photos.

Thanks B family for letting me hang out with you and capture some precious memories for you!

hb - wow, i really love the pictures! it was so much fun working with you. can’t wait to see the rest!

A party of five in San Francisco

Fb-Button

This lovely family was visiting San Francisco from the east coast and had booked me at short notice. They were staying downtown and it was mainly going to be a shoot with the mom and three kids under five. All boys! I was pretty nervous and worried about the logistics of doing a down-town shoot with the little ones. I asked if she didn’t mind getting away from downtown and she was agreeable to meeting me at Fort Mason. Quite the supermom she was showing up right on time at the location with her well-behaved and adorable boys! It was pretty cold which was hard for little baby S. He was also so ready to explore so to catch him sitting still was quite a challenge. I am sure the shoot seemed a bit scattered V, but I seriously am in love with the photos from your session. I can’t believe how many amazing pictures I got… but with such a good looking family it was to be expected 🙂 Thanks for the opportunity and also to your husband for popping by for a bit!

Alex - Wow, you rocked this session, love the star fish and i love the family shot ( i know you’re just trying to make me envious with the bridge in the background) ….if you shot this for me and mine i’d get it on a canvas, beautiful . 😉

Pammy - These came out fabulous Alpana!
