do you promise not to tell? shhh…

One of the perks of my job is getting to meet some pretty amazing people. This kids’ portrait session was booked by an awesome dad as a Christmas present for his wife. Just how cool is that?? It is going to be such a wonderful surprise and the kids are in on it staying quiet. In the past, dad surprised his wife by flying her girlfriend from out of town for her birthday. What a swell guy! I think he should have a little chat with my husband, lol. In case you are wondering if I am going to blow the surprise by posting the pics here, I did ask Michael if it was okay and he said it was fine. Mom doesn’t know the url to my site so if you know her or recognize the kids, remember mums the word, until Xmas that is!

And now on to the sneak peek for Michael. Your kids are just so sweet natured and easy-going! Once we started playing I got some great photos! Hope you like them!

Michael - Thank You again Alpana. We all had fun working with you and your photos show it.
Can’t wait to see the rest and we all look forward to giving this gift to my wife. Hope the kids can stay quiet.
All the Best,
Michael

By popular demand, I have decided to do a few holiday mini-sessions. This is an opportunity to get some great family photos + holiday cards at a special price which includes the session fee. Please review the mini-session info under specials. Only a limited number of spots are available.

Also, to update my availability for this year – I have only one spot open in November. Please email me to book your spot today!

A few location test shots that my not so willing “model” helped me with…

smita - You have a knack for capturing the moment. The picture of your adorable model sitting on the log is super!! So is the expression captured in the previous one.

alpana - Thanks Smita. The funny thing was that he kept telling me how I take pics of all other kids and not him so he wanted pictures. But the reality was certainly different! Lots of snacks breaks, lol.

Heidi - oh, i love that last one in front of the green wall/garage door (?) it really makes his eyes pop!

Book a session while you can!

crocs on the rocks | san francisco kids photographer

A few snapshots from our recent camping trip to Memorial Park in San Mateo County. This was R’s first ever camping trip so we thought it would be good to go someplace close by. We went with some friends which made the trip even more fun as R could burn off some energy with his little buddies. One of his newly learned activity was skipping. Check him out in action.

yeah…there they are! I am so not a Croc or character shoe lover and yet here we are with a pair of character crocs. 🙂

On the way back, we stopped at Half Moon bay at my favorite chai place. The reviews aren’t kidding when they say it is the best chai on this side of Bombay. Not the over-spiced Starbucks type chai but perfectly flavored. Yes, I am guilty of being a chai snob and love Raman’s chai. I got to enjoy it twice as it turned out that I had forgotten my camera + purse out there and only realized the day after. How crazy is that?? I was so, so lucky that Raman had found it. My mind was in a bit of a fog after ingesting Dramamine on the windy ride back home from our campsite. On our return trip we got to spend a wonderful afternoon in Half Moon Bay. R and I went to Flying Fish Grill my favorite fish taco place to grab a bite and then have some fun at the beach.

Collecting feathers.

How can a castle be complete without feathers?

The victory jump!

angela pursell - These are wonderful! You tell a story through your lens. Handsome boy too!

Jessica - These are great!!

Desiree - These are just awesome!! Love the “story” they tell. Looks like FUN!!!!!!!

Laura - The last two images are fabulous! His smile is so cute!

Kimberly Whipps - These are BOYHOOD!! I love them. Fabulous work and attention to details.

Rebeca - I love your photographs! I feel as though I were there watching him playing in the sand. SO NATURAL…..what type of camera do you use? Again…great pics!

a match made in heaven | san francisco baby photographer

I have been waiting to proof this baby session for the longest time. It was great fun taking pictures of this sweet and special little girl in their San Francisco home. It was love at sight looking into those big, big eyes. And it was such a pleasure of working with her amazingly smart and beautiful Oncologist mommy. Little J was adopted by mommy at birth and it is seriously a match made in heaven. One of the things little J loves is looking at herself in the mirror…and then cracking up. Mom knew how to get the best giggles from this three month old cutie. And mom’s big helper was Aunty Anka visiting all the way from the east coast. She discovered one of my favorite little Pakistani restaurant called Shalimar and I was more than happy to chat with her about the yummy food. I used to frequent it at a different location when I was a MFA student at the Academy of Art and miss being close to it now. Now on to the sneak peek that I am sure you have been waiting for…

Kiss, Kiss…yep, I wouldn’t have stopped kissing that sweet little face.

up she goes….

Mom had the most fabulous collection of scarves. I felt like a kid in a candy store…

and with aunty Anka

xoxo,
Lilia

alpana - Thanks so much for all your wonderful comments! I loved this session.

Two sets of brothers

Yes! I am a bit behind schedule in posting and keeping up with the blog. You know that feeling of being swamped and a week of vacation can easily do that to you. Also, my son starts Kindergarden in a week and half which we are excited about. I am hoping to catch up in the coming week and will be in touch about your galleries. These are from mini-sessions a few weeks back. Enjoy your sneak peek!

First up… Five year old E and his baby brother. E used to go to the same preschool as my son and such a fun, energetic little guy. His little brother wouldn’t crack a smile for me but check out his cute little face. The minis are short sessions and often it does take some time to get little people (and bigger people) to be comfortable with a camera pointed at their face. But to me, it is about capturing their real expressions not a forced smile.

Can you tell he is enjoying his soft and cushy seat here? Hee hee.

I just adore this one… yep, he is looking past me.

And from the second brother session. This little guy barely fit in the basket but I loved the way it turned out.

This little two year old was full of spunk and on the go! Getting him into the wagon kept him seated just long enough to get some great pics. And dad was a big help keeping him in splits.

Jennifer Mott - Oh, I love these too! What a great idea with the wagon!

Therese Marie - WOW that baby in a basket is AMAZING! They are all great 🙂

Kimberly Kyle - These are great! I agree…I love the true unforced expressions. Perfect!
