Jamey turns one | san francisco baby photographer

Fb-Button

One of my favorite client’s little one just turned one recently. I have had the pleasure of photographing her four times so far….yes, lucky me! For her birthday photos I wanted something special. As it turned out my planned photos didn’t turn out exactly the way I wanted. I did get a few good ones but it was clear that at age one Jamey was happier being on the move rather than the confines of a studio. So I quickly improvised and changed the environment. Coupled with mama’s fabulous outfits for her we got some pretty amazing photos. Thanks for a wonderful year with Jamey, mama P!

Today is my son’s birthday so I have promised myself not to spend time working but really couldn’t resist pulling a few off the card for a sneak peek!!

and there she was cracking herself up…

Renee Hindman - I just LOVE these! She is a doll. Great capture!

sarah ellsworth - those are great!!!! i especially love the black and white of you two. those little feet are adorable!!!

Ceci - I love this last photo. Although Mom and baby are the major focus, we get to see proud Papa in the background as well. Great photos!

samantha limcaco - hi alpana- WOW! we loove the pictures that you’ve posted so far. we CANT wait to see the remaining photos!! thanks again for such a great afternoon- it didn’t feel like a photoshoot and yet when we see the results…we are amazed.

best,
samantha, bryce and henryp

Bruce - Too darn cute!!

Glenys - Especially love the one of Samantha and Henry. Also the one on the swing laughing is priceless. Wish you were closer!!

Rashmi Tabada - I love the smile in the 2nd picture.
He looks so “cool” in the 3rd picture.
The mom is the highlight of the last one. I like it.

In general, no matter the surrounding, the focus is still the subject…..love it.
I also like the surroundings aren’t the traditional ones.

B L Doyle - After much thought we choice the picture with Henry P in the Green Hat as our 1st choice. The reason is because the whole Family is in the shot. If the Black & White photo had the 3 of them in it we would have picked it as #1. We feel that Black & White is always more dramatic, it also has a timeless apperance.
B Lolo & B Lola

Gabrielle Myers - So cute! Great pics!

SupD - Hey Alps!

I like the first and the fourth pic the best. If I had to pick just one, I guess I would pick the fourth. It seems to me like they have both just seen the dad coming up the road.

Barbara Byars - I absolutely adore all of these pictures! My favorite is the first one……….Mom and Henry are both totally beautiful!!!!! This was a true pleasure to view!

Karen - What fabulous pictures. Samantha- you are such a shinning mom!! Yeay!

Carol Cirilli - I’m so glad you got some professional pictures taken. Henry looks so calm and happy. Tough to pick the “best” as they all offer something special. I think #1 shows the similar traits you both have – but I love the vibrant colors of the rest of the photos.

The last photo is great to have all 3 of you in it, although Bryce is off in the distance.

Would love to see the rest of the shots soon.

Good luck in the contest!
Carol

Jen - GREAT photos. Nothing beats candids- especially smiley swing shots 🙂

Norm - That first B&W shot is awesome. Area there more like that?

Who’s that man hiding in the doorway in pic4?! Run!

The photographer commented that Henry “…. went from awake to sleepy to awake.”
Was Henry in a meeting?

Christine - What a beautiful family! And what an awesome giveaway! Just peeking in to say “hello.”

Sagar - super de duper cute!

dana - Beautiful photos of a beautiful family. I can’t wait to see more. I love the family shot in the alley. So cool. Nice job!

alpana - Thanks so much for the participation in the giveaway. It is now closed. The random winner for the frame is Barbara Byers. You would need to send me your address for the prize.

Wilfrido Limcaco - all photos were like taken be professionals, e.g., Time/Life Magazines … so impressive!!!

a green box to save the planet

Recently, while watching an episode of 20/20 I came across an amazing solution to reduce pizza box wastage. A pizza box that can double up as plates and also one that can function as storage for left-overs. Sheer genius it is! I hope the idea catches on and the major pizza chains start using it!

A quote about the green pizza box from the Daily Green website says, “”Three billion pizza boxes are used in the U.S. every year,” said Wright. “If you stacked them on top of each other, in two years you’d reach the moon…We feel like we’re doing our part for the environment, one pizza box at a time.”

“A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove…but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child.”
~ Forest E. Witcraft

I was ever so lucky to meet this wonderful family that adopted this adorable little girl from India. We got to hang out and spend a few hours documenting this time in little R’s life. Did I ever say I love my job?

I so wanted to take her home…

Little R multi-tasking at the window. I was running late but really how could I resist taking pictures in this amazing space?

marie - that last one is gorgeous!!!

Urban Baby | San Francisco Family Photographer

Couldn’t resist a quick share from yesterday’s family session in San Francisco. I spent a few hours with this lovely family walking around their neighborhood and peeking into their daily routine. Little H had the sweetest disposition and went from awake to sleepy to awake. Hope you like your sneak peek!

ps. Talking about Urban Babies made me think of of one of our favorite books when my son was little. Check it out here.

Renee Hindman - Loving the Urban Baby photo shoot!

Charlene - I love the photos — my favorites are (1) dad looking down at Henry and (2) Mom holding Henry with Henry’s feet in the front.

Thanks for sharing!

Hope for Mariah | San Francisco bay area kids photographer

I wrote about three year old Mariah back in April when I heard about her fundraiser at a local ice cream shop. She was diagnosed with a rare form of Kidney Cancer in December 2008 and has been undergoing treatment since. We talked about getting together for some pictures for a while and finally, our stars aligned. At first, Mariah was a bit tentative and stayed close to mama. She did say she wanted her her pictures taken. Mama even told me that she wanted to wear a dress for the pictures. It just struck me how well this little girl has taken her sickness in stride.

You can visit Mariah’s website to learn more about this brave little girl and how you can help her. Her mom mentioned having wristbands as a fundraiser. They are only $5 each and read “Hope for Mariah.” You can review more info by clicking on the link.

Raji P. - What a beautiful little girl! I hope and pray she gets well soon.

Teri - What a beautiful and brave little girl. Gorgous images of her, Alpana.

Caroline - Alpana, what an adorable little girl Maria is, your pictures of her and her Mom are so sensitive and you can almost feel the bond between them.

Paula - What a wonderful gift. The photos are beautiful.

As I design their album I though I’d share a few more from the fabulous session with this Texan family. One of the images selected for the album didn’t work as well so I processed a few more. And I so love what evolved as the see-saw narrative. Here goes…

Desiree Hayes - Love these!! Fun family, great light, and great post processing!

Game boy with game face on…

Fb-Button

I had almost forgotten about these T-ball game pictures I took a couple weeks back until one of the parent’s asked about them today. As luck would have it I had lugged my camera the day Rowan got his game ball. It seems that there are a few things that are of significance for the little T-ballers. 1. Hot dog/soda snack after the game. 2. Ring Pop (quite a pop culture education for me) and 3. The game ball which is given to a player based on his performance at the game. The great thing is that our wonderful coach makes sure all the kids get a turn taking the coveted ball home. Being a hot, hot day I almost gave up on taking pictures but boy was I glad to get a few quick ones in R’s moment of glory!

Desiree Hayes - Fun! Love that first one!

He has the best eyes ever!
