I have a thing for the color orange and just love it as a part of my living space. You might have seen the orange wall in our current home. For our new home, I wanted to keep the colors muted and I thought I’d have to give up the orange. With my color indecision, I decided to hire a color consultant and it was one of the best decisions I made. The consultant, Moira was able to quickly ascertain my taste and come up with a fresh and modern color palette. I just love the orange she picked and wold love to have it in every room 🙂 You can find Moira at www.moirao.com. She is a true gem and worth every penny.

An update on our move. It is going pretty well after hitting a few glitches that slowed down the process. The floors are being installed as I write this, the walls getting painted so a lot going on. And I am hoping that we will finally be able to move next week.

I know many of you, my dear clients are patiently waiting for your proofs. If you check out the pictures below you can see the craziness that has been my life. I really appreciate your patience and hope to get to them after our move.

yep, the floor is somewhere underneath

Equals two cute little boys. Two brothers- 1.5 and 4 years old. And their rocking parents. It turned out to be another crazy bay area foggy, cold day but we managed to conquer it and come out shinning!

Just wanted to post a quick sneak peek for the family. Thanks for being so flexible in working out the session date to work with my crazy moving schedule. Hope you enjoy your peek…

Six months old | San Francisco Baby Photographer

Between packing boxes, shooting sessions, proofing, sending out client orders and the general chaos that I exist in at the moment, I just had to proof a few photos of this delightful six month old. I photographed her a few days back in their gorgeous San Francisco home in Pacific Heights. The moment I met her and those big eyes looked at me, I knew she that I was going to have a wonderful time hanging out with this adorable little doll. Baby K wasn’t quite sitting up so we had to find creative ways of getting photos of her. Mommy wanted to capture the essence of her being a baby and I loved what I ended up with! Here is a sneak peek for mama…

and the most darling little swimsuit…

ashley mcnamara - Awwwe!!!! what a cutie! Fabulous photos here. That last one is my favorite.

Deepa - The last one is sooo cute 🙂

marie - I just adore your work…could look at it all day long

Katie - What a gorgeous little girl! Wonderful images, as always.

Little C came to me at seven days old with the most perfect lips and sweet little face. He went through a bit of a rough patch and had to be hospitalized for neo-natal jaundice. But the little trooper is doing much better now. Thanks so much Cleon and Gracie for making the trek out to me. Hope you like your sneak peek!

amanda - This photo is just unreal…I love that its simple…artistic all at the same time. Your newborn work is extraordinary.

Katie - suuuuper adorable!

We are moving!! Soon, I hope as we have been trying to do so for a few weeks. Partly, it is because a smaller project has taken a life of its own. At first, we were only going to replace the carpeted bedrooms with laminate but later we decided to put hardwood in the whole house. Being used to our old oak floors in our current home it just felt right to go with the real deal. A hard decision to make and my husband will tell you an even harder one if you are married to an artist, lol. It has been quite an education to learn about different types of wood and figuring out form and function. We finally settled on a lovely walnut pre-engineered floor. I can’t wait to see it on the floor!

The other dilemma is picking out wall color. Our current home has bright, earthy colors but am thinking change is good, right? I’ve decided to switch to a zen-ish, West Elm like palette and leave out the spice. Friends tell me that I have to keep my orange wall so I am trying to figure out a way to do so or find something close to it.

In case you are a slight bit curious about the wall color… here it is with a picture of my little guy on his birthday. Above him is one of my favorite products, a canvas wrap. Oh, the color is Rhumba Orange from Sherwin Williams.  An amazing color but not the best backdrop for photos!

Katie - That looks cool! I love it!

While I stay busy (or crazy) with our upcoming move I wanted to quickly post a few pictures from a recent newborn session. This sweet little girl came to me at four weeks for her newborn photos. Mom and I had talked prior to her birth but mom had an emergency C section so it took a bit longer to get together for the pictures. It was a pleasure meeting you W family and hope you enjoy your sneak peek.

Happy 4th of July! A quick side note…We are in the midst of a move so life has been a bit crazy for us. I am only doing limited shoots in the coming weeks and taking a month off in August (mostly). If you are a client, please hang in there to hear from me about your proofs and orders.

Now on to the shoot that I can’t wait to share. I met Lei of Gyspy Blue a few years back when my son Rowan took her art class at the community center. I bumped into her again a few months back. She mentioned wanting to do a photo session with her family after coming across my work. Lei is a talented artist that makes lovely jewelry. She can be found at the Downtown San Leandro Farmers Market if you want to check her out.

I was so excited to be working with a fellow artist that shared my enthusiasm for doing something different in creating art. When I heard her husband had a red Harly, I was giddy with excitement. I asked if he could bring it to our session. She brought all kinds of cool stuff like hats, a guitar along with her amazing family. 🙂 I couldn’t wait for the session and it was all I imagined it would be and more.

One of the biggest challenge as a portrait photographer is to create art without a lot of prep work. My past background in advertising as an art director comes in handy while orchestrating a photo shoot to completion. I like to go check out the location ahead of time, work with clients on their clothing and sketch out some rough ideas. I just loved how this shoot came together and might possibly be one of my favorite ones from a creative standpoint.

Let’s meet the fun loving family…

From L to R. Lei’s mom visiting Meg from Australia, sixteen year old Michael that loves to surf, at center-stage eight year old Zebe that is a pretty smart cookie, husband James that was an amazing sport and of course the lovely Lei.

I just love, love this photo!

brotherly hug…

taking grandma hostage. She was a good match for him though!

Lei - OMG Alpana, these are the most amazing photos I have ever seen. I could wax lyrically about every single one. The one of Mum and Zee made me cry. I simply CANNOT wait until our proof is ready. I have been checking your site daily. Thank you, thank you, thank you! You are an incredible artist.
