Thought I would share a few more snaps from our India trip that I had a chance to play with. A glimpse of the quieter, scenic side of India and away from the concrete jungle of Mumbai. We visited a vacation spot close to Mumbai called Mahabaleshwar. I have memories of visiting out there as a kid with my family and was happy to make that trip with my little guy!

We stopped by this teeny beautiful church. It was closed but the groundskeeper was nice enough to open it for us.

While in India, I had an opportunity to catch up with my friend Aparna and her gorgeous daughter. Remember her? Aparna and I met in kindergarten and along with a group of friends have stayed in touch over the years. Although we go back every two years and meet for a short time; it feels like we can pick up where we left off. I hope our kids grow up and become friends as well. Here are some pictures that I took while the kids played together.

I just got these beauties in recently and thought I would share some photographs that I took of them. I am not quite the product photographer but thought I’d recruit my new adored chairs as props. Not sure what, but something made me reflect back on my old advertising days as I took pictures of the Family Storybook Album. I thought about the various commercial photographers I had an opportunity to work with in my former life as an art director. Farrok Chotia is one of them and an amazing fashion photographer based in Mumbai. And one of the most influential individuals I worked with for a short but memorable period was Elsie Nanji at Ambience Advertising. I had been hired as a junior art director by her and had an opportunity to come to the US for my Masters. I ended up coming to the US but sometimes wonder what path my life would have taken had I stayed there. Nonetheless, I feel fortunate about my advertising background which has helped me provide a unique end product for my portraiture clients.

On a recent flight back from Chicago, I was reading the Delta in flight magazine which featured various advertising agencies and also a write up about the Emmy nominated show “Mad Men.” If you haven’t watched it, tune in and check it out. I am so hooked to that show! One of the articles in the magazine featured an interview with Lynn Power, the President of Arnold NYC. When asked how do successful brands stand out, she says, “Don’t try to manufacture coolness or try to be hip; consumers can see through that. Just try to be true to who you are, understand your DNA and make it relevant to people today.” I so love that. I hope to continue doing what I do and stay true to what I do as I build my brand and grow my business. My wonderful clients inspire me in every way possible and I want to thank you for the opportunity to be a part of your lives!

It is good to be back

A quick post to say that I am am alive and well However, I am still recovering from our trip with a cough + cold and slowly getting back to the routine. Time flew by visiting family and friends. The great thing about going back and meeting old friends is that you can pick up where you left off years back. I met some of my kindergarten friends (some visiting back at the same time) and my old art college friends. It was great to see how well everyone is doing in their respective careers. Mr R. had a great time and has promised to go back and let me take some more pictures. Heh…he is starting to get interested in taking pictures. I didn’t get as many pictures as I hoped and most were rushed snapshots but such is life in the bustling city of Mumbai. It was good to see that things were back to normal after the terror attacks in December. I didn’t get to visit any of the sites and take pictures as I hoped to but we did go to one old cafe where I bribed R with a chocolate cake so I could do a quick session.

These are from a recent family session with Deidre, a local photographer. Aren’t they a just gorgeous family? I had an opportunity to pull out my chair find that they were game to try out. I hope to be doing some chair sessions soon!
