One from my last shoot for this year. What could be a better way to end this year than document new life? This little guy was a little over two weeks old at the time of the photo and a really sweet little model. This was a family session as well and I will have more photos to share at a later date. Please keep an eye on Facebook for pictures as well.

As this year draws to end, I was to thank all our lovely clients, friends and well-wishers (if you missed the newsletter). My second wedding was featured on Style Me Pretty back in September. SMP is a style savvy wedding blog for the modern bride. Such an honor for this occasional wedding photographer. Check out the feature here if you haven’t had a chance to as yet.

Haven’t been able to finish proofing the images from this session but wanted to share one quick image that jumped right at me off the card. Not technically perfect but one of my absolute favorite ones. This is for the lovely mama with the most adorable boys. I so wanted to take him home and he was ready to… such a sweet little man! I photographed him when he was a wee ten month old and how he has grown! He also has an equally adorable little brother that I got to meet and photograph.

Off to pack my bags for my NYC trip tomorrow. I am looking forward to a photography workshop as well as a few portrait sessions with east coast families. I will be away through October 3rd and emails/calls will be answered on my return. It is gearing up to be a busy fall so please let me know soon if you would like to book a family or kids portrait session for the holidays. I don’t have any short story session offerings for the holidays yet and might do so on a limited basis since I have gotten requests. If you are interested please let me know via email and I will keep you posted once I have something in the works. Returning clients will have the opportunity to have first dibs on the spots. Just a quick update from Storybox Art for the coming weeks. We will be out for personal reasons and perhaps a bit slow in responding to phone calls and emails. New bookings will be scheduled August onward unless you are a client with a prior booking for an earlier date. Please be patient in case you don’t hear from us soon.

And just in case you are wondering about this fabulous origami crane art, it was made by the very talented Kedar Amladi. He does pretty amazing Origami and is a budding photographer as well amongst other things

The contest prize is a 16 x 20″ canvas of the winning image. In addition, they would also receive a $300 gift certificate that can be utilized toward a photo session. The session will have to be completed by August 15, 2011. This also applies to entries that are from out of town. The second place winner will receive a $200 gift certificate and the third place a $100 gift certificate.

1. Vote for any one image that strikes your fancy. Votes are monitored by IP address so one vote per person only.
2. If your picture is in the contest, feel free to vote for it. Share it with your friends/family and have them vote. But remember one vote per person
3. Voting will stay open through January 24th, 11 pm PST.
4. The results won’t be published until after the contest. They will be announced on January 26th.

Thought I would share one…

What distinguishes Alpana among family/newborn photographers is her AMAZING gift for making photos that are true “art” rather than simply great photos! My husband and I wanted to capture the fleeting and precious moments of our newborn in his first few weeks of life. When we saw Alpana’s work it was love at first sight. Her photos are artistic, passionate, emotionally stirring, and simply magical. We knew we had to work with her and she made working with her so easy. She came to our home and worked around our baby’s schedule, which was very much appreciated as new parents. Alpana made us feel very comfortable and was so gentle and patient with our baby. All of this comes through in her photos. Our photos are amazing and take our breath away each time we look at them. She’s truly a gifted and amazing photographer. We can’t wait to work with her again.
